I’ll give Starbucks credit for recognizing the current Latin alternative music scene and bringing it to the masses on this compilation. I’m sure many of WYCE’s listeners are already familiar with such artists as Senor Coconut, Los Amigos Invisibles, Aterciopelados, and Mexican Institute of Sound. You may discover some you aren’t so familiar with, though, such as Spanish rock band, Polock, Columbian beat-masters, Monareta, or electro-bossa nova artist, DJ Bitman. My favorite? The Venezuelan collective, Cuarto Poder, with the playful summertime ode, ”Arenita Playita”. Rebecca Ruth
