James Burton, lead guitar player for Elvis from 1969 until the King's death in 1977 (including the "Aloha from Hawaii" concert), also played lead guitar on Gram Parsons' 1974 release "Grievous Angel" .. "play it James"
"Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii" celebrates it's 40th anniversary! .. The 14 January 1973 concert was originally broadcast live, via satellite, from the Honolulu International Center, at 12:30am Honolulu time; to an estimated 38 to 40-plus countries from across Asia and Europe .. The only market not to see the show right away, was North America; so as not to compete with the American release of the 1972 documentary, "Elvis on Tour" (or, depending on your point of view, Super Bowl VII - which took place that same day) .. In the U.S., the concert-special would not air until 4 April 1973
