Mississippi Heat is a Chicago blues band. Formed in 1991 in Chicago, Illinois, Mississippi Heat’s sound is steeped in Chicago’s golden sounds of the 1950’s, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed and Jimmy Rogers. The band: Bandleader, composer, and harp player, Pierre Lacocque has a fascinating history. I invite you to check out his story on their website. Inetta Visor has been the amazing voice of M.H. since 2001. Kenny Smith plays drums. His father, Willie “Big Eyes†Smith, is one of the best-known living blues drummers. Blues veteran Michael Dotson plays guitar. Brian Quinn is on bass. Mississsippi Heat’s latest album ‘Warning Shot’ was named Living Blues Magazine’s #1 blues radio album for October. I want to play a track from “Warning Shot†but first, I got to interview M.H in 2010 and they performed the song “Hattiesburg Blues†here in “YCE’s studio and it was amazing. The video that was taken that day is still on their website. So I have to play that for you first.
Recorded live in the WYCE studios in 2010.
