Spoonful Of Blues: Crying Sam Collins

Lonesome Road Blues [1931]
Sam Collins: 1927-1931
a note about this track

Part Of The Earliest Of Blues Performers, Developing His Style In South Mississippi Opposed To The Delta. His Debut 1927 Single Predates Those Of Charlie Patton & Tommy Johnson. Collins Used The Fluid Qualities Of His Bottleneck Guitar Rather Than A Slashing Style, And Though He Wasn't An Innovator, A Few Of His Songs Had The Intensity Of The Mississippi Music At Its Most Creative Level. He Passed On Unnoticed In 1949. 8/11/1887 - 10/20/1949 (62)...Louisiana
