Today's WYCE artist of the day is Nanci Griffith. Born Nanci Caroline Griffith on this day in 1953, she is an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter, reared in Austin, Texas. Her career has spanned a variety of musical genres, predominantly country, folk, and what she terms "folkabilly." Griffith won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 1994 for her recording, Other Voices, Other Rooms. Griffith has 20 studio albums to her credit ( WYCE has every one of them in our library!) and has been involved with a number of compilation recordings.
