Local Spins Live - The Jetbeats (click for more info)

WYCE presents Local Spins Live at Speak EZ Lounge - every Wednesday night at 8pm! This series features a wide array of the best musicians in the West Michigan area, performing in a casual setting with no cover charge.

Tomorrow night, Local Spins Live presents Grand Rapids vintage Rock & Roll combo The Jetbeats.

The JetBeats were brought together over a common obsession with the savage early 60's Rock&Roll sound, incubated in the British beat sound of the early 60's and into the British Invasion.

Speak EZ Lounge is at 600 Monroe NorthWest. Ages "21 plus" welcome after 9pm.

a note about this track

WYCE's Artist of the Day: Earlier this year, Slowdive returned with their first new song in 22 years... their new self-titled album the follow-up to 1995’s Pygmalion, is out May 5 via Dead Oceans. Slowdive was recorded at the Courtyard in Oxfordshire and mixed at Los Angeles’ Sunset Sound by Chris Coady. In a press statement, the band’s principal songwriter, Neil Halstead, says, “When you’re in a band and you do three records, there’s a continuous flow and a development. For us, that flow re-started with us playing live again and that has continued into the record.”

SCMC - SF Jazz Collective (click for more info)

St. Cecilia Music Center wraps up its 2017 concert season with a performance by S.F. JAZZ Collective this Thursday May 4th at 7:30 pm.

The group's mission is to perform fresh arrangements of works by modern masters and newly commissioned pieces by each Collective member.

This year the Collective pays tribute to trumpeter, composer, and innovator Miles Davis, who, more than any figure, changed the sound of jazz - from the birth of bebop in the 1940's to the integration of rock approaches that gave rise to the fusion movement in the 1970's.

SF Jazz Collective honors his work and perform original compositions this Thursday, May 4th at St. Cecilia Music Center.
