The Haunting Quality Of Skip James's Music Earned Him A Reputation As One Of The Great Early Mississippi Bluesmen. Growing Up On A Plantation, Skip's First Recording Session Came In 1931. These Songs Sold Poorly Having Been Released During The Great Depression, And James Drifted Into Obscurity. An Inspiration To Robert Johnson, Skip's Long Absence From the Public Eye Ended In 1964; Rediscovered During The Folk And Blues Revival. Inducted Into The Blues Hall Of Fame In 1992 and Hailed As One Of The Seminal Figures Of The Blues, Nehemiah James Passed On In 1969
