Alger "Texas" Alexander

Someday Baby, Your Troubles Is Gonna Be Like Mine
Texas Alexander Vol. 2 (1928-1930) 1991 via Document
a note about this track

Texas Alexander's Powerful Tenor Voice Was The Only Thing He Needed To Knock You Sideways With His Primitive Blues. His Archaic Style, With Its Free Rhythms And Wild 'Hollers', Throws A Light On The Origins Of The Blues As A Rural Folk Music Of Rare Power And Emotional Force. Alexander's First Recordings Came In 1927 Accompanied By Lonnie Johnson And Little Hat Jones. A Six-Year Prison Term Interrupted His Career Until 1945, But The Momentum Of The Old Days Was Gone. Alger Alexander Passed On 1950.
