Blues Spotlight: One Half Of The Legendary Mississippi Sheiks, Walter Vinson Was Also Among The Most Noteworthy Blues Accompanists Of His Era. During The 1920's He Worked With Charlie McCoy, Rubin Lacy,And Charlie Spand Before Forging His Most Pivotal And Long-Lasting Union With Lonnie Chatmon In 1928. When The Sheiks Dissolved In 1933, Vinson Relocated To Chicago, And Remained Active As A Club Performer During the 40's. The Blues Revival Of The Early 1960's Brought Him Out Of Retirement And Onto The Festival Scene. Walter Vinson Passed On In 1975.
