Heavily Influenced By Leroy Carr, Davis Cut His First Record In 1930, Teaming Up With Guitarist Henry Townsend As They Exploited The Fashion For Piano/Guitar Duets. Sometimes Billed As 'Hooker Joe', Davis Output Totalled One-Hundred And Fifty Pieces Recorded In A Twenty-Two Year Period Ending In 1952. A Stroke Put An End To His Career, And He Turned To Religion, Becoming A Preacher For The Rest Of His Days. Walter Davis Passed On In 1963.
