The Monk Quartet With A Still Flexing-His-Wings John Coltrane Ran Through Two Flawless Sets That Evening, A 1957 Thanksgiving Jazz Benefit Concert Captured On Tape By The Voice Of America For Broadcast Overseas At A Later Date.The Tape Was Stored At The Library Of Congress Where It Sat Untouched For Forty-Eight Years. In 2005 The Recording Was Discovered In A Loosely-Labeled Storage Box By A Recording Lab Supervisor. This Discovery Substantially Increased Coverage Of Monk And Coltrane's Partnership; The Only Other Recordings Known Are From 4 Sessions That Took Place In The Spring And Summer Of 1957.
