Born In 1897 Virginia, Bill Williams Left Home To Hobo Across America, At One Time Teaming Up With Blind Blake. Both Are Considered Songsters, Worked The Coal Camps Playing Square Dance Music For A Year Before Parting Ways. Williams Put Down Roots In Kentucky, And Tapped Into His Deep Repertoire Of Country Blues Stretching Back To The Ragtime Era. Completely Unknown Beyond His Hometown, Blue Goose Recorded Him In 1970. The Smithsonian Scheduled A Series Of Concert Engagements, and Extended Recording Sessions Before A Heart Ailment Brought About His Musical Retirement. Bill Williams Passed On At The Age Of 73, Nearly Three Years To The Day Of His Recording Debut.
