Born In Mississippi, J.D Migrated To Missouri In The Late 1920's, Spending A Few Years As A Member Of One Of St. Louis' Earliest Blues Bands. First Recording Date Was In 1930 For Paramount Records Before Joining The Neckbones For The Next Thirty-Years; Passing Through The Band Were The Likes Of Big Joe Williams And Peatie Wheatshaw. Seminal Recordings In 1962 Would Be His Swan Song. J.D. Short Passed On A Few Months Later.
