His latest album, “Shhh…†was made entirely with instruments he checked out from the Ann Arbor District Library, as part of their Music Tools Collection. This includes drum machines, analog synthesizers, guitar pedals, vocal processors, microphones, percussion, and various other instruments. The album was mentioned by the New York Times in a feature about libraries becoming creative hubs for individuals.

Many people think the name Shooglenifty has deep Scottish meaning but it was in fact a flash of inspiration that guitarist Malcolm Crosbie had in a Madrid tapas bar during one of the band’s early busking periods. Shoogle is a Scottish word for shake agitate move around and ‘nifty’ means dextrous.
