Devil Got My Woman
Devil Got My Woman 1968 via Vanguard Records
a note about this track

Blues Spotlight: Might Have Made The Best Music Of Anyone Who Resurfaced During The Mid-'60s Rediscovery Era For Mississippi Bluesmen. His Importance As A Stylist Is Characterized By Eerie Falsetto Vocals And Delicate Guitar Picking In The Minor Keys Giving Rise To A Strand Of Blues Played In The South Of The Delta Being Named The 'Bentonia Scool' As Opposed To The Darker Shades Found Further North Around Clarksdale. An Influence On Robert Johnson, Skip Recorded Quite A Few Sides By 1932, But Poor Sales Popped His Bubble, Giving Up The Blues Altogether For the Ministry. Thirty-Years Would Pass Before James Was Persuaded To Appear At Newport Folk; It Was The Second Coming For Skip James. Nehemiah "Skip" James Was Known As The Hard Luck Child, Passing On In 1969.
