Blues Spotlight: Yank Rachell's Career As A Performer Spanned Nearly Seventy Years Beginning In The Late 1920s. His Impeccable Playing On the Mandolin Brought A Unique Twist To The Blues. Shown The Ropes By Hambone Willie Newbern, Yank Teamed Up With Another Newbern Protege, Sleepy John Estes, And Together Relocated To Memphis In 1929 To Record The First Of Many Sides Together. Harp Player Hammie Nixon Joined Up And The Trio Toured Relentlessly Throughout the Deep South. World War ll Killed Rachell's Recording Career. Two Decades Later The Folk/Blues Revival Brought Yank Back To The Stages, Reconnecting With Estes And Nixon, Highly-Regarded As Genuine And Original Acoustic Blues Players.
