The Free Music
Free Music IFree Music (Part 1) 2023 via Habibi Funk
A little blues and rock heavy with folk, jazz and a bit of world music thrown in to keep me honest. New music mixed with some throwback artists that most likely have not been heard for a while.
Support for WYCE comes from The Smiling Acres Music Festival, presenting their flagship music festival every year over the Fourth of July weekend in Trufant, Michigan.
Tickets are now on sale for this year's festival happening Friday, June 30th through Sunday, July 2nd, featuring live musIc from The Accidentals, May Erlewine, Henhouse Prowlers, Earth Radio, and many more.
Day passes or weekend long passes with camping are available.
More information about the The Smiling Acres Music Festival, private rentals and event sponsorship is at smilingacresfestival dot com.
To celebrate the beginning of summer, Blandford Nature Center is hosting Summer Solstice, an evening of ambient music in nature.
Today, WYCE is taking the time to recognize Juneteenth...the annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States of America.
We honor and recognize the significance of the Juneteenth Holiday by highlighting some of the many local black owned businesses, like We Are Lit bookstore, The Last Mile Cafe, House of Style, Grammotones, and many other Grand Rapids Area Black Businesses.
In honor of Juneteenth, we share this quote from American abolitionist, statesman, social reformer, and writer, Frederick Douglass, who said, "I prayed for freedom for twenty years, but received no answer until I prayed with my legs."
Frederik Meijer Gardens and 88.1 FM WYCE are proud to announce this year's expanded lineup for Tuesday Evening Music Club.
