Mental Health Foundation West Michigan (*BE NICE STOMP OUT STIGMA WALK 2024 ) (click for more info)

The Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan is sponsoring its annual Stomp Out Stigma 5k Walk for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention on Saturday, May 18 at the GVSU Campus -Seward Lot in Downtown Grand Rapids. 

Registration begins at 8 AM on the day of the walk and the walk begins at 9 AM. Proceeds from the walk benefit Be Nice programs and awareness throughout the West Michigan community.

The "Be Nice" action plan educates students about mental illnesses and encourages them to exchange stereotypes for understanding, compassion, and acceptance.

Registration is FREE for the Stomp Out Stigma 5k Walk, and available now at BeNice dot org.  That's be nice dot o-r-g.

The Grand Rapids Pride Center has been serving the 2SLGBTQ+ community since 1988. They work to create positive change by breaking down barriers, creating awareness, providing inclusive services, and bridging relationships. 
Offering social and support groups, volunteer opportunities, a basic and essential needs closet, and their Therapy Assistance Program, among other services, GRPC strives to be a safe, welcoming, and affirming space for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in the greater-Grand Rapids area.

The West Michigan Blues Society is sponsoring a fundraising concert featuring blues artist Ghalia Volt on Tuesday, May 21, at Billy's Lounge in Grand Rapids.

Ghalia Volt is a blues/rock singer, guitarist, drummer, and songwriter from Belgium where she performed punk and rockabilly in bands and busked on the streets of Brussels .

Doors open at 6:00 PM. Tickets and  VIP booths are available online and at the door.

City of Grand Rapids Free Summer Fitness Classes (click for more info)

The City of Grand Rapids, in partnership with Priority Health and Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., is hosting another summer of free outdoor fitness in parks and public spaces across the city.

The city offers 16 dance, cardio, and yoga classes that will run weekly from now until August 22nd. 

These fitness classes will be held weekly, Monday through Thursday, and are free of charge; no registration is required.

Cancellations due to weather will be announced on the City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
