The Baseball Project is a supergroup comprised of Peter Buck and Mike Mills (R.E.M.), Scott McCaughey (The Young Fresh Fellows), and Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate). The band has released several albums all featuring songs about baseball history in one way or another.

Mark Olson and Gary Louris have had an on-and-off again partnership ever since their time spent as bandmates in The Jayhawks. During that band's hiatus, they teamed up to release 2009's "Ready For The Flood", only to self-destruct a few years later due to personal differences and a self-admitted painkiller addiction by Louris.
