He was musical director for Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers for years, and has also worked with Louis Hayes, Max Roach, Branford and Wynton Marsalis, Carlos Santana, Joe Williams, Dianne Reeves, Lou Rawls, Betty Carter and Carmen Lundy.
