The Kent District Library is pleased to announce its fourteenth annual Write Michigan Short Story Contest, which drew over 1,000 entries last year.  

Michigan writers of all ages are invited to enter, with separate categories for youth, teens, and adults. 

Stories can be submitted at writemichigan.org through Saturday, November 15. 

There is a 3,000-word maximum length, and the contest is open to current Michigan residents only.

Winning entries will be published, and the top writers will receive cash prizes.

The Grand Rapids Public Library will hold its popular Book Sale on Saturday, October 4, and Sunday, October 5.

GRPL's premiere fundraising event, presented by the Friends of the Grand Rapids Public will be held at the Main Library branch. 

The sale offers book lovers a chance to purchase new and used books, music, and movies at a discount. 

Hours for the book sale are Saturday, October 4th, from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, and Sunday, October 5, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
