The Poet

The Show

Respecting the classics while sharing the odd and unexpected musical gift. If the music you love doesn't occasionally move you to tears, do you really love it? I play what I love and spin lots of new artists and albums. I'm currently grooving on the Crane Wives, Bartees Strange, Vijay Iyer, Terence Blanchard, Arlo Parks, and the Glass Animals. I would describe my setlists as a slow simmer, punctuated by the odd apoplectic shift. Lend me your ears.

About The Poet

It is an absolute pleasure to share my love of great music with my community. I describe my musical predilections as intelligently eclectic, with a fondness for great voices and thoughtful lyricism. I was raised on Motown and found my own voice with New Wave/British Invasion. If you loved Thomas Dolby, Depeche Mode, the Talking Heads, the Cure, and Siouxsie and the Banshees, we should be friends! I leaned hard into feminist folk and learned to be a decent human while listening to Ani Difranco. I'm slowly growing into jazz and consider folk to be America's music. Lil Wayne turns a metaphor better than John Lennon, by the way. And Autotune is for suckers, which flies in the face of my fondness for EDM. My first concert was U2 at Fountain Street Church. I've seen Ani at least 50 times. I've seen Metallica, Nina Simone, the Offspring, Olafur Arnalds, and the Lords of Acid. Lisa Gerrard is on my bucket list, right next to Zofia Kilanowicz.

Favorite Albums

Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Liverpool. Ani, Living in Clip. Arvo Part, Fratres. Olafur Arnalds, For Now I am Winter. Henryk Gorecki, Synphony #3. Supertramp, Breakfast in America.
