NIKKA COSTA

Pro Whoa

2012-03-11

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Nikka Costa makes the music that she does, given her childhood. Having a producer for a father (Don Costa), means that she spent time in her father’s studio in the 70’s with such artists as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Quincy Jones, and Sly Stone. Is it any wonder Nikka Costa makes quality soul music? Her latest release, Pro Whoa is no exception. It features that familiar Nikka Costa soul, that’s heavy on dance-pop production with a hint of funk. My only complaint is twenty-seven minutes is not enough. Rebecca Ruth
