PETER BRADLEY ADAMS

Gather Up

2006-10-30

Fresh from success as a duo act in the folk band Eastmountainsouth, Peter Bradley Adams goes this one on his own – sort of. Instead of E’south band mate Kat Malisch Bode, he has help from Carla Werner and a variety of other guest vocalists and musicians. This CD was recorded throughout 2005 in his Apartment, in-between touring gigs. It shows off his Master’s degree in music, with classical-style piano arrangements and even a music delivery of a Langston Hughes poem (title track). I liked the front end of this disc better than the finish, with the opener “Unrequited,” “One Foot Down” and “Chant” the most arresting. 10/06 MJVD
