RAMBLIN’ JACK ELLIOT

I Stand Alone

2006-07-19

A more rockin’ Ralph Stanley record, Ramblin’ Jack can still rock. Envision a more upbeat Johnny Cash in his latter years and this is what Ramblin’ Jack gives on his latest album, “I Stand Alone”. With some background vocal help from Lucinda Williams, Ramblin’ Jack continues his legacy with this standout album. Track 9, “Careless Darling” is a beautiful song that features Williams who sings a gorgeous backup. Track 2, “Arthritis Blues” is a definite single that is honestly one of the best records I’ve personally heard in the past year. “I Stand Alone” is recommended for traditional country enthusiasts and fans of the late Johnny Cash, Uncle Tupelo, and Jeff Tweedy. – Lane Zoerhof
