The Bluetones

The Bluetones

2007-02-03

On this, their fifth studio album, Indie/alt rock a.k.a. Brit pop survivors the Bluetones take a big step toward resurrecting themselves from “the threat of obscurity” by reinventing themselves with a “fresh sound.” But the charts have not been kind and even their first US release could not drum up enough interest to support a nine-gig US tour, which was scrapped before launch. There is enough talent and variety in these ten original poppie tunes to please the average contemporary musical palate, even if none of them will burn anybody’s house down. -- Mostly
