BAJO FONDO

MAR DULCE

2008-08-18

Bajofondo has been a pioneer in what has been known as “electronica tango,” and the band quickly caused a stir in Argentina and all over the world with its unique genre. This eight-member band, with seven musicians and a VJ who triggers images in real time along with the music, has also started to integrate Latin American folkloric music into its performances. Mar Dulce was recorded all over the world which reflects the band’s cosmopolitan attraction, as well as the eclectic line up of guest artists such as Elvis Costello and Mala Rodriguez. This album has a certain melancholy sound that has something to do with the cities’ of origins old traditional barrios, which one of the band members likes to call, “cosmic tango.” Reviewed By LaRae
