CLEAN AS DIRT

They Will Remember Me

2015-01-12

Clean as Dirt is the project of Alex Holycross and Joshua LeMieux of Detroit. They Will Remember Me presents them as largely a metal group, complete with power chords, squealing guitar solos, and rugged vocals. The songs on the record intensely approach themes of death and religion--particularly issues of faith and non-belief.

While you could find yourself headbanging to most of the songs on this record, there are a few treats for the non-metal head in here as well. The duo's vocals and Holycross's chops on guitar are showcased in "Wrecking Ball," which is a ballad that seems to have a Spanish/classical-guitar taste to it. "Ridgemont" opens with a low-fi, twangy slide guitar that inspires visions of tumbleweeds blowing across barren desert floors.
