Dar Williams

The Beauty of the Rain

2004-01-13

What do we hear in these sounds? The confidence and ease that only years of experience can give.

A scar of the big name AAA artists making contributions to Dar's 5th album (John Popper, Alison Krauss, Bela Fleck, John Medeski) might lead one to believe that Dar has decided to venture the alternative-folk-jazz road. On the contrary, these offerings are generally played close-to-the-vest to fit within the context of Dar's songs. It's still a showcase of her songwriting abilities, not a free for all.
