VUSI MAHLASELA

Guiding Star

2007-02-19

Vusi grew up in South Africa in Mamelodi, a cradle of creativity. He is self-taught on a handmade guitar and an instrument made of tin cans and fishing line. His songs address issues of political significance especially peace, and was asked to play at the inauguration of Nelson Mandella. His first album was recorded in 1991 and is recognized as a South African classic. Guiding Star is a definitive collection that spans his recordings over the last eleven years. -P
