There’s a new chapter in the Lou Barlow saga. Barlow built up quite a reputation (but not necessarily recognition) for himself through the 80’s & 90’s in the bands Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, and Folk Implosion. The latter two groups featured Barlow’s affinity for the lo-fi, basement-recording sound and brought him indie-rock hero status. Barlow’s biggest commercial recognition came with his recordings on the soundtrack for the film Kids in 1995. The song “Natural One” made a surprise appearance in the Top 40.Emoh is the first album Barlow has released under his own name. Those familiar with his earlier work will recognize the songwriting style and won’t be disappointed by the production. Ratt fans (are you there?) will enjoy the cover of “Round -n-Round.”
