JESSE HARRIS

Mineral

2006-03-08

Singer/songwriter Jesse Harris made a name for himself for writing the 2003 Grammy-winning Song Of The Year for Norah Jones’s rendition of “Don’t Know Why”. Since then Harris has struggled to find his own sound, but comes through with a quiet collection of acoustic musings on Mineral. The album is almost entirely acoustic strummings backed by light organ and percussion, with his vocals harkening to those of Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard. As People Magazine says, “The Grammy-winning writer makes a most lasting impression with warm, wistful tunes.” Some notable tunes include #1 “Slow Down”, #3 “Somewhere down the road”, and the catchy #8 “Corrina Corrina”. -Ryan Terpstra
