GAIL DAVIES

SINCE I DON'T HAVE YOU

2014-02-03

Nashville artist Gail Davis was the first female artist to produce her own recordings and has over a dozen releases to her name. USA Today recently called Gail "One of the most influential female singer/songwriters in the past 30 years". On her new disc "Since I Don't Have You" Gail joins forces with legendary Sax man Benny "Killer Joe" Golson and sheds her country roots for a more traditional jazz sound. This disc at times reminds me of the late great Patsy Cline as well as Amy Adams And The Hank Sinatra's. Gail's voice transcends genres and showcases an artist whose great talents shouldn't be caged by one musical style alone. This disc may be a stretch for some of her purest fans, but should introduce her to a whole new legion of people who appreciate great music. Reviewed By: Gregg Saur
