Ray Vega

Squeeze Squeeze

2004-04-05

Some nice straight-ahead jazz here on Squeeze Squeeze from rotary valve trumpeter Ray Vega. His interpretations of McCoy Tyner ("Contemplation") and Wayne Shorter are solid draws, but the other half of originals stands out, too.

Included are nice compositions from alto saxophonist Bobby Porcelli ("Me Quitez Pas") and bass player Gregg August ("Crescent Mood"), as well as Vega's "Smile You're in Beirut" and the title track.
Remember this name: Igor Atalita; he plays piano.

Spicy percussion throughout, but the drums really get going on Vega's "La Tercera". Great for your next dinner party.
