Por Vida: A Tribute to the Songs of Alejandro Escovedo

2004-08-17

Por Vida: A Tribute to the Songs of Alejandro Escovedo is a new double-disc benefit album for the Texas singer-songwriter who fell ill from Hepatitis C in April of 2003.

The collection brings together an eclectic cast of Escovedo’s friends, family members and peers to record songs written throughout his career. Included are familiar names like Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Cowboy Junkies, Son Volt, Charlie Musselwhite, the Jayhawks and Escovedo himself mingling with up-and-coming acts like Los Lonely Boys, Calexico, M Ward, Tres Chicas and the Nicolas Tremulis Orchestra.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of this album will be donated to the Alejandro Escovedo Medical and Living Expense Fund.
