Accordion music from China? Yep, and to make it even wilder, the 21-year-old currently lives in Grand Rapids! As a youngster, the multi-talented Lin appeared on Chinese TV shows and movies, and also learned the accordion, but it was in the U.S. that he took up the difficult instrument in earnest. Since then, he's won numerous national competitions on the instrument. This debut CD shows a range of styles, from jazz-inflected to music from his homeland to classical to haunting gypsy-inspired. All this and a sense of humor: his website, features a page of accordion jokes. Different --- and cool.RENE LOPEZ
