Jim White draws us into the fascinating cultural phenomenon that is the mixture of music and religion in the American South.

This is the topic of the new documentary film Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus, a project directed by Andrew Douglas and starring the mysterious White, whose 2001 album Wrong-Eyed Jesus is the inspiration for the film…which is the inspiration for this soundtrack.

The album brings together a collection of tales of damnation and redemption from White, The Handsome Family, 16 Horsepower’s David Eugene Edwards, Doc Watson, Cat Power, David Yohansen, and others.
