Six weeks after Hurricane Katrina, a group of legendary but displaced musicians got together in Austin, TX and recorded this album in seven days. The “dream team” includes Ivan Neville on organ, Henry Butler on piano, and two founding members of the Meters—Leo Nocentelli on guitar and George Porter Jr on bass. George assumed the role of music director, and the group was called the New Orleans Social Club. Joining the core band are many big name guests, as noted on the album cover. Sing Me Back Home is a wonderful disc that promotes affirmation of life along with hope and healing in the wake of Katrina. Check out #1 “This Is My Country” with Cyril Neville, #4 “Walking to New Orleans” by Dr. John, and #8 “99 ½ Won’t Do”, performed by Mighty Chariots of Fire. The Aperturistic Trio
