Appropriately named, Fog is an eclectic jazz group from San Francisco comprised of Jeff Chimenti (piano), Brad Beuthe (guitar), Peter Barshay (bass) and Brian Melvin (drums). All members have worked with many jazz greats including Joe Lovano, Freddie Hubbard, and Kurt Elling but most notably Brian Melvin is also a member of the band Beatlejazz and collaborated with Jaco Pastorius on two albums (Standards Zone & Nightfood) which featured Bob Weir (Grateful Dead). The album was recorded at Weir's TRI Studios. The disc reveals Fog's "intimate" interpretation of some famous covers including "Nowhere Man" and "The Boxer." This is quiet introspective jazz.
