Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez

Red Dog Tracks

2005-06-14

The songs of Chip Taylor permeate American culture.

Aside from writing “Wild Thing” and “Angel of the Morning” his songs have been recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Chet Atkins, Ike and Tina Turner, Linda Ronstadt and Janis Joplin.

As a recording artist, he first hit the Top 100 in 1961 and consistently placed albums on the country charts throughout the 80’s. Chip spent 10 years as a notorious professional gambler before picking up his guitar again in the late 90’s. In 2001, as Chip was renewing his musical career, he became fascinated while watching vocalist and fiddler Carrie Rodriguez perform at the South by Southwest Music Festival. Their musical pairing has proven fruitful - resulting in three albums in as many years, including the tasty new Red Dog Tracks, brand new on Back Porch Records. Guitarist Bill Frisell joins the duo on the new record.
