GOGOL BORDELLO

SUPER TARANTA

2007-07-17

If you take the punk sounds of the Pogues & mixed them with the Russian sounds of the Red Elvises you have a good description of Gogol Bordello. Gogol Bordello mixes Gypsy & Eastern European sounds with punk, alternative rock & even may I say metal to create their unique sound. Lead vocalist Eugene Hultz a Ukrainian doesn’t sing the 14 tracks he shouts them with a fury. You mix his vocals with a Russian Fiddler, Jewish Guitarist & Slavic accordionist and you know this is not your traditional rock album. It is also not for the faint of heart. The biggest downfall on this CD is the inability to make out many of the lyrics as shouted by Eugene Hultz; I would have loved to have him slow it down at times so I could understand all his lyrics.
