On October 21st of 2003, word came down that elusive songwriter Elliott Smith had apparently committed suicide in his Los Angeles home. The news brought a sad end to a critically-lauded and popularly-ignored career - and a life that spanned only 34 years.

Since his passing, the Elliott Smith legend has grown. Often cited for carrying the torch of Nick Drake, acts have already begun to spring up to carry on Elliott’s sound.

The followers will have to wait, though, as Elliott Smith’s final musical statement, recorded during the last two years of his life, now makes its way to stores.
