GRIMES

Visions

2012-03-04

Canadian singer/producer, Claire Boucher makes electro-pop on her fourth release (in two years) as Grimes. The liner notes compare her music to that of Enya, TLC, and Aphex Twin. I think that description is right on target. Visions features well-produced vocals with effects a la Enya, sung to a synth soundtrack a la Aphex Twin (or maybe Kraftwerk), and done with a dance pop attitude a la TLC. Rebecca Ruth
