In 1960, Miles Davis and Gil Evans released the album Sketches of Spain. Listeners didn't know what made it jazz, but they knew they liked it, and the album is now considered a classic.
53 years later (2013) Nicholas Payton has released a cover version of Sketches of Spain. Payton is an acknowledged master musician and Grammy winner. He does a fine job here.
Perhaps this will prompt some Nicholas Payton fans to explore the works of Miles Davis, and if so, that will be a good thing. There isn't much to add.
