John McDowell

Speaking the Mamma Tongue

2004-11-09

John McDowell is a gifted and visionary artist who personifies what "world" music is all about.

African drumming features prominently in his compositions, but Tibetan, Indian, and Native American elements are all part of the creation. McDowell and his group, Mamma Tongue, use their music to lead workshops that teach tolerance, respect and conflict resolution.
