Ian quickly realized that doing the Stevie Ray Vaughn thing would only take you so far.

While his early records had great moments that showcased his soaring vocals, the turf had been covered. So, he cut his hair, got out of Texas, moved to Portland and - 10 years later - blues isn’t even part of the picture.

Instead, he now navigates a, yes, luminous atmospheric pop landscape filled with stretching, yawning, shifting vistas.

Oh, so nice.
