In the early 20th century, many composers drew their inspiration from folk music, often borrowing from Gypsy music to create theur vision o f an exotic, exuberant Orient. Things have now been turned around, as the Taraf have taken hold of works by Khachaturian, Bartok, de Falla, Albeniz, Ketelbey and more, and have re-gypsified them.
