NATIVE SIGNAL

Dancing in Wildfire

2012-12-31

Dancing in Wildfire is the first release from Michigan band, Native Signal. The band formed as a duo in 2011 in Allen Park and Wyandotte, Michigan and gradually added members to become the current configuration, a quartet. Featuring guitar, drums, bass, and occasional fiddle, the band produces mid-tempo country-rock. The songs that really stand out for me, are the ones that feature trumpet, such as"The Drifters Bride". However, being a sucker for an instrumental, I have to choose "Frank Zappa" as my favorite. The production/mix here is a bit off and I don't love the vocals, but it's still an admirable effort for a first release. Rebecca Ruth
