"the rapidian dot org slash artprize 2016"A band based in Queens, New York the Frightnrs struggled to make a name for themselves on the New York music scene, but found themselves staring down tragedy once their big break finally came. The Frightnrs' story began in 2010, when Dan Klein, a former punk rocker who had developed a passion for Jamaican sounds, met musician Chuck Patel at a party. The two compared notes, and found they had shared a love of vintage rocksteady, and the Frightnrs were born. Klein was soon diagnosed with (ALS). Despite Klein's diagnosis, he and the Frightnrs were able to complete the album, and Nothing More to Say was released on September 2, 2016. Sadly, Klein died on June 6, 2016.

Support for WYCE comes from The Pyramid Scheme, a pub and music venue in the Heartside neighborhood.
On Friday, September 30th, The Pyramid Scheme presents the return of mr. Gnome. Forging beauty out of chaos with their explosive fusing of widescreen concepts and surreal psychedelia since their inception, singer/guitarist Nicole Barille, and drummer/pianist Sam Meister return with the duo hitting an undeniably new energetic peak. Layered vocals, searing guitars, and driving rhythms transport the listener into another world.
Mr. Gnome live at The Pyramid Scheme, Friday, September 30th. Tickets and more details can be found at pyramid scheme bar dot com
