Radio Noise Vol. 1 & 2

2008-01-02

This radio only release highlights the best tracks from the New York City record label that formed in 2006. “Asa Branca” by Forro in the Dark with David Byrne is by far the standout track here. Another great track is “Rock the Rhythm” by Love Trio and U-Roy. “Asa Branca” has a kind of world beat to it, while “Rock the Rhythm” has a Techno meets Reggae mood. Wax Poetic has three tracks, while the Nublu Orchestra is also presented. Disc 1 is quite good and offers a good look into what Nublu can bring to the table as a record label. Disc 2 “The Remixes” doesn’t fare so well. Most tracks are the generic “four on the floor” remixes. Nothing to imaginative or interesting happens here; mostly just the same beat that could spare having a few minutes cut of the end. --Tim Warren
